MOVE FROM SURVIVING TO THRIVING......
Many of us can feel stuck in a rut when using mental health services. We might feel like we want to explore positive change but we don't quite know where to start. We may feel it's too late to turn things around or that we're not able to change things without support and help. As people who have used mental health services we at Recovery In Action know what that feels like too. We are enthusiastic about offering support to those who want to explore positive change as we have on our journeys.
This project aims to reduce the social isolation experienced by people with mental health issues, living within our inner city communities. Through a structured programme of group work and tailored one-to-one support the project enables participants to identify and achieve personal goals, work towards better social integration and develop pathways to a healthier, more positive and sustainable life experience.
We offer up to 6 months of one to one peer mentoring for people using mental health services in Lambeth and Southwark. Our peer mentors are all highly trained and all have a lived experience of using mental health and / or addiction services. We are networked with a myriad of different mental health sector organizations and service providers in and around Lambeth and Southwark, so our mentors are regularly updated about services that may be useful to the people they are working with.
This project also aims to be a service user run and led conduit between services in the mental health sector and the people they serve. The project will aim to help people identify useful services and regularly update them on changes or restructuring of these services that may affect them on their recovery journeys. This part of the project will sit alongside and complement the workshop and mentoring.
