Mentors are motivated people who volunteer in order to make a contribution to their community and who are trained to promote people’s mental well being. They often share hobbies and interests with those they help. This can help people meet new friends, develop new interests and become involved with new networks.
For volunteers and the people who use the service, the aim is to create greater social inclusion and the freedom to enjoy an everyday life. As a volunteer Mentor, you may simply want to give something to society or perhaps you’re preparing for a career in mental health care. Whatever your initial reason for becoming involved, you will make a difference to people’s lives and Recovery in Action will help you use your own experience and add further to it. All out-of-pocket expenses will be paid.
As well as mentors (who we train) we rely on volunteers for a wider array of project tasks like: administrative jobs, befriending, help at events and help with other practical jobs that help the project function.
If you’re interested in volunteering please call 03003657300
